Shoebill

Have you been watching David Attenborough's programmes over the last few weeks?  Galapagos on Sky and Africa on the BBC.  They are both excellent, each with typically high production standards.  I watch quite a lot of wildlife programmes and find that they are ideal to watch with the kids.

It's hard for parents to sit through some of the films and programmes they choose without picking up a book to read or dozing off, but wildlife shows tend to keep everyone  fairly gripped.  We've got Gordon Buchanan's Polar Bear Family series Sky+'d to watch when we're all in together, which might be this weekend if we are snowbound as anticipated.

Anyhow, even though it's always great to watch these programmes, you tend to think you've seen it all, so I was amazed to see a strange, large African bird which I never seen before or even heard of.  It looks positively prehistoric… a Shoebill.  It's worth finding the programme to take a look at these unusual creatures.  It's nice to find something new.

Bookends

The thing I've discovered today is that Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel is unlike any of their other albums.  Influenced, in terms of sheer wackiness in parts, by albums from the Beatles and the Beach Boys from around that time, the album is something of a quirky concept album.

There's lot's going on and I haven't got my head around it fully for a complete review, but it's interesting and, if you aren't already familiar with it, I'd give it a listen.

I like my tools simple and good looking...

Today I learned that Omnifocus is going free... at least until the new version is released.  I also learned on taking a look at it, that it looks like a real time-sink.  I know that I'd spend more time curating my todo lists than actually doing the tasks.

The best task management tool I've found in recent years is Clear.  I like my tools simple and good-looking...
